Micro and Macro scales within illustration.

Narrowing down my research i have concluded that i am thoroughly fascinated by the use of smaller and larger characters in illustrative pieces, from examples such as Jack Hudson and Kelsey Heinrichs. When using this technique, the true scale of surroundings becomes unclear, whether its larger characters invading a small world or vice versa.

What I find captivating for this process is how much it can enhance the detail, and how much the artists gain control over what the onlookers will instantly focus on and be drawn into. For instance, the way that Jack Hudson compositions the smaller characters around the larger ones, the smaller ones are often working together to mend or adjust something on the bigger scale.   .

This also demonstrates just how well it can be used for metaphors through art, as in day to day life we may see an ongoing situation and blame or hold responsible a singular person, whereas when we gain access to the missing pieces of the puzzle that prejudice strips away we are able to step back and look at the bigger picture as a whole. This allows us to acknowledge and appreciate all the tiny details that make up our world and how much effort goes into it.

I'm hoping to expand and explore how this technique can be used to manipulate the attention of the eye and how I could be able to use it to create an anchoring point of attention within my response.
